Mooka Magic!

I have a lot of chalkboard space in my studio and sometimes I like to do monotangles on it.
When I first tried Mooka I found it to be quite the struggle, and then after a great deal of practice and patience, I found my groove with it.
Now... Mooka is a favorite.

The nice part about playing with patterns on chalkboards is I can try variants and it gives me a nice flow for when I teach. (My tangling on a bigger surface is never as neat as on tiles. I'm a tile girl)

No shading on this though if I'd had another color of chalk handy I could have.

Do you have tangles you practice over and over? Were they ones you loved from the start or ones that have grown on you?

October 1st... wow...

Wow, it's amazing to realize that so far I've achieved my goal. Some days it wasn't much, some days it wasn't very good and a few times it wasn't a lot to look at, but I've created something EVERY day for the last 9 months.
This month will feature 2 giveaways (more on those in the next few days) and some huge reveals as well.
The last month has been tough because almost everything I work on I couldn't show you! LOL
Today's share is a piece of one of those projects. It doesn't give anything away, it's only showing you the tangling! I like this piece a lot actually.

Obviously it's still a work in progress and I'll have more to share in the next couple days. This project is wrapping up!

I hope you are all having a great start to your fall season, that you are making sure to have some pumpkin spice everything and that you are enjoying this time of year as much as I do.
I also hope you aren't quite as busy as I've been this week so you have time to enjoy it! LOL

So what HAVE you been doing?

CanT a tangle that's new to me!

I've been practicing this one and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

It's Can T by Chris Titus.

Hope you are doing something fun today!

Tangled day= Pattern!

Yesterday I started the day out tangling and never really expanded much past that. I did some painting on some sneakers as well, but my focus was on the tangles because paint must dry. :)

Anyway... here's what I did.

Here are better pictures.

I don't know if you can tell or not, but there is a common pattern in most of those. I asked around, I did some research, it's something I've been drawing a lot lately and there is no other step out that I've found for it.
So .. with that said, I give you..... Charmzy

Have fun with it, and I REALLY hope that you will come back and show me what you've done with it! As you can see there's room for lots of variation.

Also, just a note if you haven't checked it out yet, my new venture, Tangle Troves can be found HERE

Cross Country Clearprint project

TGIF!!! I hope you have a great weekend planned!
So today I want to tell you about this thing I did.
I signed up and was selected to participate in the Cross Country Clearprint Project.
There are 10 books out there, I got to complete a page and part of the cover and send it back for inclusion. It's pretty cool.
Anyway, this was my piece for it, I finished it this morning.

I really like the book, I didn't know if I would or not, vellum an be tricky but this was a lot of fun. It tangled differently than most of my other mediums but it didn't smudge. I look forward to playing more in my book.

Skyline series

I have been working on these for a while, and I'm very happy to say that the first is completely done and will be being made into limited edition reproductions as well as notecards. I have 52 others so far that are in my artist queue so other areas will be popping up soon if you are interested in somewhere specific shoot me a message and I'll add it.

Here are close ups of each, notice that I had to watermark them in more than one spot. I'm disappointed to say that I've had people try and pass things off as their own on more than one occasion lately.
:\ Not cool people.

See it on etsy!

I hope you are working on something great and I'd love to see it!

New Tangle pattern- BrrrSt

A long long time ago (cue the soundtrack to American Pie... ok scratch that but it's stuck in my head)
I stepped out a pattern I had seen in a church window.
I was in the car at the time and it was on the corner of a street that started with Br... that was all I saw. I think it was Bryant but I don't really know... I was paying attention to the pattern. But that's how it got it's name.
BrrrSt

I created a step out and posted it but it apparently didn't make the transfer over when I did some switcharoos on my blog and I wasn't getting many readers back then. I figured it had wandered off and didn't worry about it, I knew it had gotten pinned a few times on pinterest but that was all I knew about it.

Then in one of my CZT groups, someone asked about it and I dusted it out and shared it and everyone liked it. So I'm sharing it with all of you again, many for the first time.
(Glad I save so many random pieces of paper!)
I have something really cool in the works if you're interested in being in on the ground floor as well you can sign up for more details here
Anyway, what are you making today?

Just a simple tile

Someone asked me yesterday to describe in one sentence, what the most important part of the Zentangle method is to me.

My answer was this...
The way each persons journey is unique to them and the way art becomes an extension of all that is amazing inside the.... no matter how different it might be, it's ok, because that's who they are!

It's really the first time I was able to put that in a way I liked it... so I wanted to share that with you.

There's a lot to Zentangle that is more than the beautiful patterns and the art and I was privileged to get to speak about this recently to a group. Not specifically JUST about Zentangle but about art as meditation and to share the concept behind it with them.
I hope they got as much out of my presentation as I did sharing it with them!

This morning I have this, which started out one way and ended up another... much like a lot of my days have been lately. Again one of the awesome things about tangling, the unexpected results!

I'd love to see some of the unexpected results you've gotten in your work!
Hope your day is great!
