Happy Halloween!!! (And Halloweekend!)

I love when Halloween falls on the weekend, especially Saturday. It always feels like a gift, it's more relaxed, people have more fun with it.. and this year, it's not even supposed to rain! (or do that S thing it does here fairly often on Halloween)

I'm on a little bit of a time crunch today and I was going to make this a short post but I decided I need to mention something, because you never know.

I am working on a pair of sneakers for a little boy. They're Mickey Mouse. He's 3, and he is fighting cancer.
You can see the sneakers in progress.

Anyway, the reason that I'm on a time crunch is they have to ship today. These are part of Peach's Neet Feet which I paint for. It's a not for profit that gifts children who are struggling with custom sneakers. They strive to #HustleKindness and support Random Acts of Kindness.
It's a great organization, I've been doing art for them for about a year now.

They also recently lost their donor for shipping. What that means if a new method of shipping at a reasonable rate needs to be found. I figured I'd post about that today while I was writing because you never know who you know.... lol

So if you or someone you know ever wants to sponsor sneakers, knows someone who can provide shipping or wants to gift shipping or something, please let me know and I can put you in touch with Peach's herself.
And now I'm off to go finish these up so that they can meet the deadline for shipping!

I hope you have lots of fun today on Halloween and that you create something awesome!

Autumn Leaves- Zentangle Inspired Art

These are from my autumn class.
I'm not going to say much, I'm just going to let these beautiful creations speak for themselves!

They're all so unique and so beautiful!

Are you inspired by fall the way I am? Is it just me? I don't think so...
I know that I grab as much inspiration from fall as I can. I see beauty in winter as well... but I don't like to be cold so I'm less inclined to dive into winter.
Fall though, these colors could stay around forever!

W2 tangling!

One of my favorite tangles is the focus this week over at Square One:Purely Zentangle so I had to find the time to get a tile made for it!
If you don't participate over there you should, it's Zentangle in all it's glory and simplicity at the same time.

So if you haven't W2ed yet... give it a shot! It's one of those that shading turns magical!

Day 300

Today is day 300 of the Creative Challenge.
That means 300 out of 365. We are in the home stretch! How did that happen?
That makes today special. I'm so happy you all have participated with me so far!

I had come up with a number of things and couldn't decide on what to share so instead I wanted to share an idea.

Flood the streets with Art.
It's an event, and I'll let you check it out on your own....

I'd love it if you participated in that event on Black Friday and today, I'd love it if you took the opportunity to practice and did a random act of art!
Just take a piece and share it somewhere!

It's a pretty awesome feeling, if you don't want to random act of art, then maybe a random act of kindness?

Zentangle 101- like nothing else!

There is nothing like teaching Zentangle to a group of people who have never touched it before. Astounding and amazing.

I have stories to share about this weekend, and pictures but my internet isn't cooperating properly so for now just know that every time you create something you are doing something amazing.
Thank you for being part of my artistic journey this year!

Dragonflies and autumn leaves

I'm am working at an amazing event this weekend so I will have some cool things to share later for now I want to show you the beautiful leaves.

I never really consider my photography art, so I wanted to include something I painted. I think I'll stick with botanicals for watercolors, but he's kind of cute right?

So I hope you have a day that is filled with even a fraction of the amazing things that mine is, and that you enjoy your weekend!

Shades of gray tangling

This weekend Sonya Yencer had a class at Camerida where she shared the 14 shades of Gray technique she had taught here over the summer.
Here's a mosaic from that class.

Aren't they beautiful?

I posted my tile already but here it is again

And then it's fun to try it with other patterns as well!

I should have lots of tangling to share with you over the next few days as well!
Hope you're gearing up for a great weekend!

Found Poetry....

I took a class this weekend at Camerida with the AMAZING Cherryl Moote, if you don't know her work, you should check her out.  It was on found poetry. I've seen it before, I've done some looking into blackout poetry, etc, but the truth is... I'm not much of a poet.
I like Dr Seuss and while I can appreciate poetry mine tends to often read like that of a 14 year old girl.
Which isn't awful, I mean, I was a 14 year old girl once but that was a while ago. :)
So I was a little skeptical and hesitant. I'll be honest here, I was nervous and felt totally out of my comfort zone. One of the great things about this weekend was how often I was pushed out of my comfort zone. It makes one grow, even if it's not super comfortable at the time.
So here is my found poetry in process. I have a bit more done with it and hope to finish it up today.
I used a technique Cherryl taught about faux eco printing (that I loved!) and I used my new inktense blocks, which I loved and then I kind of got stuck.
But I'm working at it. :)

Hope everyone is having a great week and being productive! I have a big event this weekend I'm pretty excited about so I'll be prepping for that and then hopefully lots of pen time!

Show me cool stuff friends!

Tetris is my favorite

I am not terribly good at playing video games, with one shining exception. I am a rockstar at Tetris.

One of the first pair of Converse I ever did was a custom pair with Tetris designs.
I've done several pair since.

The most recent, are these. :) I'm really happy with them and they've arrived and she likes them so now I can post pictures!

So here are a few of the WIP pics

LOL, in backwards order!

Got a great review on them, I love when I have happy customers!
Hope you are doing something great!

Marbling, and tangling and more!

This is one of my favorite pieces from this past weekend. It's done on a beautiful marbled tile that we learned how to do from Diane Yaciuk and I used some of my favorite tangles to create a leaf on it as well.
So. Much. Fun.
This pushed me way outside my creative limits, I struggled because there was already beautiful art on this tile and I needed to find a way to add to it, which made it really hard for me. I tend to think "Oh I just want to leave it like this!"
But this, as I added to it, I fell in love with it.

I love fall. :D
I may have mentioned that.

Anyway, I had the best weekend, I'm catching up on energy and I'll share more about it in the coming days!

Tangling, tangling tangling!

I love getting back to heart of Zentangle and that's what this upcoming weekend is about! Looking forward to lots of fun and creativity, so I have to run, but first, wanted to show you this!

Hope you have even a fraction of the fun this weekend I'm expecting to!

Tetris order!

I love creating Tetris sneakers! They're probably my favorite.
This pair is actually out in the mail but I have some WIP pictures to share with you.
(I like to save the finals for AFTER they arrive)

That being said... this other pair should be in hand!

Working on anything fun today?

Got pumpkins ready and on display in the studio!

Love to see what everyone is working on these days!!!

Mooka Magic!

I have a lot of chalkboard space in my studio and sometimes I like to do monotangles on it.
When I first tried Mooka I found it to be quite the struggle, and then after a great deal of practice and patience, I found my groove with it.
Now... Mooka is a favorite.

The nice part about playing with patterns on chalkboards is I can try variants and it gives me a nice flow for when I teach. (My tangling on a bigger surface is never as neat as on tiles. I'm a tile girl)

No shading on this though if I'd had another color of chalk handy I could have.

Do you have tangles you practice over and over? Were they ones you loved from the start or ones that have grown on you?

More fall stuff!

Ok, I promise to rein in my fall obsession sooner or later, but for now, here's what I have for you! (It won't be tomorrow either, I love Fall!!!)

Be honest, do my leaves look like lettuce?

Hydrangeas

I sold a few watercolors recently and this is one I did that won't work for the project. So, back to the drawing board. Painting board?
Anyway I like it but I knew as I was doing it that it didn't seem right.

I like them though. I might repaint the bathroom to hang them in there!

I have 2 pair of sneakers that are hopefully shipping on Tuesday and another pair that are en route, so once those arrive I can share those.
They were fun, multi-fandoms merged into one pair, that's more challenging than you'd think!

I hope you're having a beautiful fall weekend, I know I am!

Had to finish these up quick this morning (just needed to attach the bows) because these are shipping off to a friend who is getting married!!!

I have to start watermarking stuff more... I'm finding my images on sites like ali baba and other places... but if you ever need or want to see an image without please just message me.

New tanglers!

I taught a Zentangle 101 yesterday (I worked on other stuff too, but I love to share what's created by my classes)

We completed 2 tiles, for a total of 7 patterns.
Here's a few in progresss

My class hard at work! I had a couple and 2 sisters in this class! Such a nice group! No one had ever tangled before they were truly new to the method!

Look how great their tiles came out!

I love the way I can see individual personalities come through in the tiles!

I also worked some on the Tangle Troves and did a little tangling of my own yesterday!
It was a very good, if very busy day!

Hope your looking forward to a fantastic weekend!
